We saw this striking herd sire prospect at the 2021 AOA National Show and were impressed by his stature and his amazing fiber characteristics. He was exactly what we were looking for in our breeding program. We made an agreement to purchase half interest from Mike and Janet Wilkins and he hasn't disappointed! He went on to win the coveted AOA National Supreme Dark Suri Champion later in the show. In April 2021, he was classified in the SHIP program and achieved perfect scores in conformat ...

Pumpkin is the first cria born on our farm. She lost her mom when she was two months old, so we bottle fed her for four months. She has grown up to be a sweet but strong-willed girl who loves kisses and neck scritches and, on a halter, will happily lead you wherever she wants to go. Sadly, leading HER requires an effort in persuasion and patience. Pumpkin‘s fleece is a hand spinner’s dream: long staple length, uniform fineness, buttery soft handle and luster throughout. At the 2021 Suri ...

Patches’ dam Pumpkin posted the highest score of any alpaca in the 2021 Suri Network Fleece Show Spin Off. She has incredible staple length and handle, but her luster is just good, not “burn your eyes out” good. We bred her to 2021 AOA Supreme National Champion WLK Star Dancer, a herdsire with stunning luster. Patches is the result and we couldn’t be happier! He has gorgeous, flat locks; brilliant luster; and incredibly fine fiber. We’ll need to wait 'til shearing to be certain, but we suspect he will have Grade 0 fiber.

Patches has a sweet and friendly disposition, although he is not as “Hi! I’M HAPPY TO SEE YOU!!” as his pasturemate Prince. He’s a good-sized boy, weighing 88 lbs at 6 months of age. He’s white, with a couple of large light fawn spots on his back. Fortunately the spots are large, so we expect to easily separate his fleece into color components before we send it off to the mill for carding.

If he doesn’t trash his fleece prior to shearing (he loves to roll in anything), we’ll send it to some fleece competitions, so it may be quite a while after this May’s shearing before any of his fleece is available. Keep an eye our Etsy page to see his fleece when it finally is available.
